WebApps on NetBooks - How Well Do they Work?

Netbooks promised the complete web experience without the weight of a full sized laptop which was something to be proven for they have been around for such a short time. Overall they performed quite beautifully if you select web options that are more on the minimal side for as you know, net books have limited amounts of ROM and ram to operate on. They do a lot of the normal stuff nicely such as streaming video and others but don;t count too much on high resolution display for they do have very small screens. Viewing video, you should consider something with at least 1024 resolution so you get the ability to view HD formatted stuff but try not to go for the highest resolution in the selection phase of the video you opt to view. People can learn a lot from how the iPhone maker Apple has re-focused it’s energy on the way people do business with big companies. Their Apple Apps store sells $30 million a day from selling all types of apps, from which the company gets a 30% cut of all sales. People who developed the apps get the rest for their hard work and earn a living from small yet useful stuff, well, not all of them. Most of the Apps store profits comes from games and other entertainment products that helps parents keep their children entertained on along drive and for may other reasons. Ever wish you could remember all the ingredients of that very dish you love and saw on the Food Network’s show featuring your favorite celebrity chef? Then why not get onto the Food Network straight from your smart phone or iPhone, which is a growing trend for most web pages. The latest release of the iPhone has hit the million mark and with more owning the first two generations, add to that the many other web capable smartphones and you have an audience indeed. Gmail Becomes Somewhat Native to the iPhone

Somewhat means you get the functionality of the native mail service/app that comes with the iPhone allowing you to archive messages easy with the swipe of a finger. Google has worked hard to improve their web app to allow such functions and with that comes their improved Gmail service. Web applications per se, are designed to make the internet browsing experience a smoother and more efficient one. Thousands of applications are available on the web, each with some sort of function designed to enhance your browsing.
Organize you apps for peace of mind.
However, internet and web applications can become counter productive when you start having too much of them, and soon, you yourself will get confused as to which is which and which does what.
One of the things that you should do is compile a list of the web applications you have. Delete any applications with duplicate functions and save the most efficient one. Also try to determine which of these you really use for your browsing. If there’s an app you use rarely, then you might be able to do without it.

Many people have been questioning the security and safety of information uploaded into the Google Servers or into the cloud. Cloud computing has long been in the works with some people working and using it without even knowing about it. Why, the major promoters are using it to test the technology and to see if they can address most of the issues before they go mainstream, taking the rest of the internet with it. The question is whether these data centers that would be making up the new cloud network would be safe from what? A nuclear explosion, an earthquake or whatever we may be able to throw at it.

It’s almost the new year, and you need to take down a list of New Year’s resolutions online, but you need to spread out ideas or brainstorm with your loved ones, well there’s a note taking app ready for you: jjot:
Jjot is a lightning fast sticky note web application filled with smart features like archiving, search, and sharing. Jjot is very easy to use and understand (which is nice when you’re tackling any new web application), but what really stands out about Jjot is its speed. Everything you do on Jjot is satisfyingly snappy, which is so refreshing in an age of bloated web apps. Granted, Jjot’s speed might not be enough to make it stand out in the already overcrowded online note-taking and todo applications, but it’s on my good list.

You Tube, the most popular online video sharing service is finally pushing through with its launching of an optional High Definition or HD video for its site. The move came after a quite lengthy time of experimentation. It recently said that it is going to expand and upgrade its video player online to a HD widescreen which has a 16:9 aspect ratio. The new page is wider with 960 pixels. This comes as a very big improvement over its original video standard 4:3 aspect ratio. This was done to keep up with the 16:9 contents being shared. Now the old 4:3 videos are not quite blending in with the new player. A lot of its users are complaining about the black bars that are on the player side. A lot of them are annoyed with it. And rumors has it, that Google is planning to monetize the little black bars. I do HOPE NOT!

Sleep.fm is a browser based social alarm clock. It does not necessarily put you to sleep but it has a new way to wake you up in the morning, much like the movie flick, Iron Man, in a scene where Tony Stark’s friend for the night is awakened by the weather news spken by his computerized butler, Jarvis. Sleep.fm has something in that nature where you are awakened by a news of the latest local weather conditions, temperature with a computer generated voice and variety of soft bell sounds. You can activate the service just by typing in your local zip code and what time you want it to engage, as long as the browser tab is up and connected. In the near future it is hoping to offer a call back service that lets you assign a specific alarm as a phone call. It will be quite useful when you want to get out of an awkward blind date.
