The reliability of the internet is also a challenge for systems that span the world for any slowdown in the series of links can mean huge performance issues for these types of applications. The explosion of wireless networks have complicated both problems a thousand fold for proper security measures have to be put in place for a system to stay secure and safe. The concept of closing an open internet has caught up with the implementation of firewalls and other intrusion prevention systems that prevent unauthorized access of information used by the system from getting into the hands of unauthorized people.
